Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that as per the intention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an action plan should be developed by forming a committee of agricultural experts and departmental officers to encourage the production of coarse grains i.e. millets in the state. Farmer representatives should also be compulsorily included in the committee. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave these instructions during the review meeting of the Agriculture Department on Sunday at Samatva Bhawan, Chief Minister’s residence.
Farmers’ income will increase
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that production of coarse grains will reduce the cost of harvesting and increase the income of farmers. This initiative will be helpful in improving the socio-economic status of farmers and establishing farming as a profitable business.
Cooperate with farmers to increase production
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that farmers should also be motivated to increase the production of oilseeds and pulses in the state. For this, farmers should be provided guidance regarding new agricultural techniques, improved seeds, appropriate fertilizers and pesticides. Information was given in the meeting that the area covered under paddy in the state is 36 lakh 33 thousand hectares and 7 lakh 76 thousand farmers are registered for procurement. Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura and concerned officers were present in the meeting.
