Bhopal: Movable assets worth Rs 8 crore have been detected in the Lokayukta raid at the house of Saurabh Sharma, who left the job of a transport constable and became a real estate businessman. The real estate is yet to be appraised. There is a possibility of getting real estate in other districts of the state including Bhopal. For this the police is examining the documents. The raid started at Sharma’s E-7 residence and office at 7 am on Thursday and was completed on Friday evening. The police collected the documents the next day. 234 kg silver and Rs 2 crore 85 lakh cash were found in the raid.
Questioning of Chetan Singh Gaur:
The value of the property present in the car, house and office is Rs 8 crore. Lokayukta police is also interrogating Sharma’s close aide Chetan Gaur in this case. However, the police have not found Saurabh Sharma at home. Police have received different information regarding this also. Family members have told the police that he is in Dubai. Police also suspect that Sharma may have some property or money abroad. The true situation will be known after examining the seized documents.
Saurabh has been close to many ministers:
Saurabh Sharma became a police constable through compassionate appointment after the death of his father in 2015. In 2022, he took voluntary retirement and started real estate business. His residence and office is in posh colony E-7 of Bhopal. While working in the Transport Department, Saurabh had become close to one or two ministers. A minister resigned as soon as he left the department because he feared action.
Gold and cash found in the car here:
The Income Tax Department had received information from the police about an abandoned car. Officers and police team reached the spot. When the gate was opened by breaking the glass of the car, bundles of notes of Rs 500, 200 and 100 were kept in a big bag. Gold biscuits were kept in another bag.
The weight of one kilo is written on the biscuit itself. 54 such biscuits have been found. After this, another team of Income Tax officers arrived with 30 policemen. Counting was done on the spot using a machine. The recovered car has a strip written with RTO and two hooters. The value of gold is estimated to be more than Rs 35 crore. The car in which this gold was found is said to belong to Chetan Singh Gaur, close to Saurabh Sharma.
Income Tax Department:
Income Tax Department officials have spoken to ADG Lokayukta in this matter and tried to find out to whom this money could belong. If the gold is examined and it is found that it is made abroad, then the DRI will also investigate it. ED can also enter into this after the completion of income tax assessment. They can also take it under investigation.
