Jaipur . Under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme in Rajasthan, during the current financial year 2024-25, till December 16, 2024, wages worth Rs 5917.79 crore were paid to unskilled workers and wages worth Rs 3670.67 lakh were paid to skilled and semi-skilled workers. This information was given by Union Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan in reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
He said that Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (Mahatma Gandhi NREGA Scheme) is a demand based wage employment scheme. Wage payments are deposited directly into the accounts of beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer Protocol by the Central Government. Wage rates for Mahatma Gandhi NREGA workers are notified annually by the Ministry of Rural Development and are linked to the Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Laborers (CPI-AL) for each State/UT. The notified wage rate for the state of Rajasthan for unskilled workers under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme for the financial year 2024-25 is 266. Although the notified wage rate for unskilled workers is the same in all the districts of Rajasthan, the actual payment may vary due to the implementation of the group work based measurement system, under which payment is not based only on the notified wage rate, but on the basis of number of workers. This is done keeping in mind the actual work completed by the company. But, in case of skilled employees, the wage rate is determined by the concerned State Government and it is also paid by the State Government from the material component.
